Junior Tour Kicks off Monday at Three Sites

Milton, Pa- The Northern Pennsylvania Golf Association Junior Tour kicks off its twenty-seventh season Monday at three different golf courses. It is the first of the seven-tournament summer tour that will involve nearly 150 junior golfers from central and northeastern Pennsylvania before the tour ends in August. Turbot Hills in Milton, Scranton Municipal Golf Course in Scranton and Paupack Hills Golf and Country Club in Lake Wallenpaupack will host three different divisions

Local Golfers Come Up Short in US Open Qualifying

All three area golfers attempting to gain a spot in next week?s US Open at Oakmont came up short in sectional qualifying on Monday. Mike Molino (Dallas), Greg Pieczynski (Kingston) and Tyler Brewington (Benton) all finished near the middle of their respective fields at two different sites.

Mike Molino rolled in an eight foot birdie putt on the 18th hole here today to finish with an even par 72 and take medalist honors in local qualifying for the US Open. Molino, the head golf professional at the host Huntsville Golf Club near Wilkes Barre, delighted the crowd of members surrounding the 18th green with his finish.
31 Golfers to Vie for U.S. Open Spots at Huntsville Golf Club Thursday

A field of 31 golfers will compete on Thursday at the Huntsville Golf Club for an opportunity to play in this year?s U.S. Open. Fourteen Professionals and seventeen amateurs will tee it up beginning at 8:30 for an 18-hole shootout for two spots to advance out of the local qualifier and an ultimate spot in the 2007 U.S. Open Championship.
