Allenwood, Pa- The tiny town of Benton, Pa has produced an extraordinary number of quality golfers. Adam Jeffrey is another in a long line of fine players to come out of the NCPGA Junior Tour and Monday he fired a two under par 70 at the White Deer Vintage Course to nip Three Ponds Cody Conklin and Liberty Valley ’s Nick Butto by a shot in the 16 to 19 year old age division.

Conklin was a winner last week at Bucknell and Jeffery has been a consistent top performer on the NCPGA Junior Tour for a couple of years. He follows in the footsteps of Micheal Klem and Tyler Brewington also of the Mill Race Golf Club and Carl Stackhouse was last year’s NCPGA Senior Champion and holds a big lead in the senior point standings so far this year.

In the 13-15 year old division, Liberty Valley ’s Jeff Brunozzi beat CJ Tyler on the 3rd hole of a sudden death playoff after both players finished with three over par 75. Eagles Mere’s Jesse Hazam was a shot back at 76 and Tyoga’s Corey Lewis was close behind at 77.

In the girls 13-15 year old age group, Taylor Krout of Williamsport won with a 105.  Austin Shellhammer of Shade Mountain paced the boys 10 to 12 year olds with a nine hole score of 42. He was s hot better of fellow Shade Mountain player Trent Gower with 43.

In the Girls 10-12 year old age group, Katie Behnert of Wynding Brook won with a 62.

The 5 to 9 year olds were paced by Christopher Timblin’s five hole score of 28. White Deer’s Derek Lew was second at 30.

It was the fifth tournament of the season on the NCPGA Junior Tour. 86 Junior Golfers competed. The next tournament is Monday, July 20^th at the Belles Springs Golf Club in Mill Hall.

The NCPGA is a non-profit organization of member golf clubs dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the game of golf in North Central Pennsylvania. Founded in 1981, the association conducts a highly successful junior tour, men’s and women’s amateur championships, a senior tournament series, U.S. Open local qualifying and provides handicapping services to member clubs which is the major source of revenue to the association. NCPGA volunteers also rate golf courses and conduct educational seminars for handicap chairmen, rules clinics and supports the USGA Turf Advisory Program.
